I was wondering if any Moderator could do me a favor and please delete my section of Chinese Zodiac BootSkins. They're not doing well, probably a total of 250 downloads, taking up server space, and kind of an eye sore between the other Skins. People have to go an extra page or two just to get around them. I really do appreciate you guys taking the time and letting me put them up, especially giving me a rating of 7, but sometimes things just aren't a success. Now Mr. Martin, chances are you've probably got this whole Website Linked with the Forums on High Priority Alert to your Cell Phone, 'cause you always seem to be around.
Anyway, for the people who had downloaded them, Thank You, and consider them a "While Quantities Last" BootSkin.
Thank You once again guys,
John

No...we call 'em mobile phones here...

Unfortunately there is no 'faster' way for an Admin to remove a person's content than that person doing it....one at a time.

I put them up...so it's only fair you save me the time to take them down.

BTW...if I were you I'd simply leave them....and move on a little...generally this is a problem when there are so many new ones at once.

DL's will likely pick up over time...

missed by 3 seconds....

skinned alive...do the download totals really matter that much to you??? it shouldn't...what does matter, is that the skins in question were important to 250 people...i mean i have stuff that has like 20 downloads after 3 months, but 20 people felt they needed it and that matters to me...just my 2 cents brother...

I put my uh,less well received items on my personal page.

I'm in total agreement with Skinhit on this one.

I think this is the second time...something's not right.

That they do my friend.
I base the quality of my work on the people's wants. I like getting a good rating from a Moderator or whomever approves the BootSkin, but what really matters is the public's desire, which to me is based on their downloads. If not many downloads are acquired, then the Skin just isn't worthy. If there's a lot of downloads in a short period of time, then in the words of my good 'ole friend Uncle Rob, "Looks like we got a hit on this one!"

Quality and popularity are two totally different things.

I can make a logon with grass and "Vista" plastered all over it and whether it works or not, it will get massive downloads. I've downloaded many of them that didn't work, or only worked at one resolution, and had thousands of downloads and not one comment about the problems with it.

And then I can make a first quality logon with a less "popular style" wallpaper in it and get hardly any downloads.

If you know you make quailty boots..and I don't know because I don't use them..then the number of downloads shouldn't matter.

You clearly are not making them because you like them and use them yourself but for other people, downloads and stats, which is fine. It's just not the reason I skin.

It sounds more like marketing than art to me. Which is neither good nor bad...just a different reason for skinning. No big deal, no problem...just my opinion.

Skinned ....I think you were your own worst enemy by uploading so many at once.

You 'could' have spread the ups over a week or two ....and almost definitely attracted more interest/dls [longer exposure].

Flooding any gallery....should really be seen as the 'not good' way to do it...

I realized that after I opened the dam Paul. That's another reason for the deletion.

And Boss, Quality is based on popularity. Otherwise, we'd be calling everybody stupid for liking what they like based on a "common grounds" interest.
We each have our own personal likes, dislikes, and tastes, but the majority always rules in favor of what's best. That's common sense. I always told myself that one day, if I ever think that everybody is crazy, then I'll know for sure that I'm the crazy one.

P.S.
Another reason for advanced Skinners getting more downloads than those who make mistakes, is if someone downloads your Skin once, maybe, and I do mean a maybe, twice, and it's messed up, they won't be coming back.
But those who do download and get a good high quality Skin, will keep coming back. The proof is in the comments we always get. Plus I like to check the Download I.P. Addresses of those who download from me.

I tend to flood my gallery from time to time and it certainly has an effect on download counts.
Jafo is dead on.
It is all about sharing. Not everything can/should be for the masses. If 10 people connect with your work then there are 10 people that found exactly what they wanted. Removing less popular stuff from the libraries removes those skins forever. People are not gonna judge your work based on downloads. Quality keeps them coming back.

Well....Wincustomize is different things to different people.

There's more than one way to utilize/enjoy the amenities....

If someone prefers to cull poor performing uploads....that's fine, or not...that's fine, too....

Johnny I told you that you should have kept them, I liked 'em!
Plus no one will ever be able to read my fortune (cookie) joke....

- geez... look what you've done?!

I told you before your stuff is awesome, you put alot more effort into your bootskins than most (myself included), technically they were very original as subject matter goes, I didn't see too many other zodiac themed bootskins in that section.

In the end it's your call because it's your work but for what it's worth - I thought they were good.

Keep on Keepin' on!
